Description: The Blackhawk Collection. Mintage: 34,200. 1929 is the only date that routinely surpasses 1909-O as THE key to the series. A fairly crisp example in terms of strike, this appears to be a remarkably original piece as well, showcasing some greyish patina over the slightly glittering golden surface. Before the advent of certification, 1909-O was prone to counterfeiting, which included the modification of the mintmark of a very common 1909-D to imitate the all-important "O" mintmark. That being said, the repunched mintmark affirms the genuine nature of this highly appealing example.
