Description: Without question the most frequently seen date for the series, the 1878 makes an obvious choice for type representation near or at the gem grade level. For an example not quite in MS-65 condition, this is an exceptionally alluring gold piece, with surfaces that exude charming, satin-smooth frosty texture and almost sensational multi-circular luster. While not entirely flawless in terms of preservation, contact marks are limited to a very few tiny nicks on the obverse and delicately strewn into the obverse left field.
