Lot Title: Roman Empire - AD 128(?)-136/7 denarius - NGC XF
Lot Number: 97
Description: Thrace Collection. Roman Empire, Sabina. Obv: diademed and draped bust of Vibia Sabina faces right, hair tied, ASBINA AVGVSTA. Rev: Concordia stands facing left, holding patera in right hand and cornucopia in left. A very sharp example of this highly elusive type, struck in honor of Sabina, wife of Hadrian. Indeed, these are widely collected as the earliest examples of Roman coinage honoring a woman, as she was awarded the title of Augusta in 128. NGC also mentions "flan flaw" which seems common for these, as well as "scratches".
