Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1803 Small Date, Small Fraction PCGS VF-35
Lot Number: 608
Description: Sheldon-245 (R.3). The early die-state has strong obverse clash marks (sometimes called the "unicorn variety"), including what looks like spikes in front of Liberty's neck, while on the reverse, a thin die crack connects the tops of RICA. Interestingly, this appears to be a particularly early strike since the crack connecting NITE on the reverse barely shows. Powderly cocoa-brown patina shows occasional, slight patches of surface roughness, such as at "BE" on the obverse, but the patina is plenty deep enough to down play any such anomalies.
