Lot Title: 1939 Doubled Monticello FS-022 ANACS MS-65 5 Steps
Lot Number: 738
Description: FS-022. A shining, frosty example of this very popular doubled-die -- by far the most popular with in the Jefferson nickel series and certainly the most valuable -- doubling shows plainly on MONTICELLO and FIVE CENTS. ANACS generally graded "moderns" quite conservatively in the era of the small-cache slabs, and this nickel appears to be a "gem" all the way, by any reasonable grading standard. The grade also enlists "5 STEPS" as a feature that makes the coin particularly attractive to specialists.
