Description: Although preserved in fairly prominent numbers, the Carson City mintmark plus a mintage of only 228,000 pieces may help explain while the 1885-CC remains popular among silver dollar admirers. Certainly, there is plenty to admire for this intensely lustrous example, which exhibits a decent strike and a dash of edge luster at the obverse far left. A couple of light, linear abrasions are all that mar the cheek, which is often seen much more heavily abraded on competing examples.
