Description: The Never-To-CAC Collection. The 1869 can sometimes be found prooflike, and even this later die-state example displays some characteristics reminiscent of a "PL" example, including a hint of cameo contrast and flashing luster on the reverse. Amazing details rise out of the devices, perhaps a little unexpected of a coin of the Reconstruction era, but admittedly, some contact marks exist, including a few nicks at the bottom of the portrait and several chicken scratch abrasions in the reverse fields.
