Description: A complete 1942 proof set requires six coins (due to the nickel struck in two different stock planchets, neither present here) such that this grouping represents half of such an undertaking. Fantastic, original mint-red dominates the cent and this coin is so free from hairlines that it appears to be an upgrade candidate. Splashes of lovely olive-gold elevate the eye-appeal of the dime to the "very gem" level quite easily, and this seems to be a fully struck example. Finally, perceptible cameo effect emanates from the half-dollar, this coin being struck from a modestly repolished die, as might be inferred by the shallow depth of the engraver's initial. Three coin lot.
