Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1826 PCGS MS-64BN
Lot Number: 598
Description: 15 graded MS-64 BN, zero higher at PCGS. Newcomb-5, R.2 has the tenth star essentially touching the hair bun, and the left outer and right inner edge of the first "A" in STATES is recut. This example has much the look of a Randall hoard coin at first glance (aside from the date, of course) given the fair amount of red luster still visible, especially from the reverse. In this earlier die-state, the rim has crumbled just a little over the sixth star. A linear mark in the obverse lower left field joins some minute abrasions over the date to help ascertain the commercial numeric grade.
