Lot Title: 1891 $10 Fr# 369 - PMG VF-20
Lot Number: 47
Description: Philip Sheridan faces up broodingly from the center of this virtually problem-free example, possibly because a single tiny pinhole rests beneath his ear. The grade might be a smidge higher otherwise given the modestly bright color and crisp edges. It might be worth noting that Sheridan was the only strictly military (and not political) person ever featured on a U.S. ten-dollar bill. Little known to many tourists of the National Park system today is the fact that Sheridan personally crusaded on behalf of the protection of the Yellowstone area. He promoted military control of the area to prevent the destruction of wildlife, in particular, the elk and buffalo, and fought for preservation of its natural wonders.
