Description: Mintage: 55,680. 315 graded MS-64, 55 higher at PCGS. The King of the series requires no introduction other than to say: if you need to upgrade your key to just about the highest reasonable grade, here is your opportunity. Nothing at all affects the cheek save a singular tiny dimple, likely a pre-strike (trivial) defect, but worth noting for pedigree purposes. Substantial luster permeates both sides, yet it may not be quite strong enough for gem consideration. Plenty strong, however, is the all-important Denver "D" mintmark, which pops up handsomely for this earlier striking. Despite the seemingly early strike, the knifelike ridge always seen does display at the obverse upper right rim. A beautifully detailed and perfectly colored, original example.
