Lot #: Go
Lot Title: Germany - 1923 1 billion mark, Westphalia - PCGS UNC details/repaired
Lot Number: 186
Description: M. Diatom Collection. Famously (or perhaps - infamously), the German word for "billion" equates to the English word for "trillion". Thus, the number of marks represented actually carries three extra zeroes for American collectors: 1,000,000,000,000. The "coin" was struck in "neusilber," a term referring to a content of no actual silver, but rather a reasonable facsimile alloy composed of copper, nickel, and zinc. PCGS declares the surface to be "repaired", alluding to smoothing over of some various nicks and abrasions in the fields.
