Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1864/186 L On Ribbon NGC MS-64 RD
Lot Number: 605
Description: Snow-3, 1864/186. Both the 1-cent and 2-cent pieces of 1864 saw their fair share of repunched digits, but the Snow-3, FS-2302 repunching of 186 in the date is considered by many collectors to be the most impressive, and the variety garners a sizable premium over normal date strikes. This high-end example displays rich, coppery hue with mint red that has scarcely diminished over time. Evidence of a modest die-clash shows plainly on the reverse, and either side abides noticeably limited contact marks.
