Lot Title: 1879-S Reverse of 1878 PCGS MS-64
Lot Number: 366
Description: Captain Jack Collection. Even casual fans of the series know that 1879-S generally ranks as one of the most common dollars in existence -- provided it has the normal reverse (of '79). The "reverse of 1878" coins are an altogether different animal, not truly rare in any real sense, but very popular entries within a very popular series, which makes any high-grade example elusive. Here is a silvery but slightly steamy example with sensational luster and sharpness. Grading factors rely upon contact marks far more than anything else in this case, with the portrait noticeably a bit abraded for MS-64. A grey spot lurks within the eagle's tail feathers.
