Description: Mintage: 20,000. 18 graded AU-55, 39 higher at NGC. Ex- Dick Osburn Collection. References suggest that the 1859-S was exported in large numbers and subsequently widely melted, resulting in a very limited number still in existence. In this case, the surface beams with bright silvery presence, on par with a newly minted UNC. Significant reflectivity emanates from the reverse fields, while the obverse fields are a little flashy, but not to the same extent. Replete with excellent details and noticeable cameo effect on the reverse.
