Lot Title: 1922-S PCGS MS-64 CACCAC
Lot Number: 293
Description: 387 graded MS-64, 83 higher at PCGS. Once a scarce date despite a respectable mintage of 2.7-million pieces, the 1922-S has become more available over the last forty years as bank hoards have slowly migrated back to the United State from European holdings. Nevertheless, the date infrequently comes to market in finer condition, and that is a shame since San Francisco produced truly beautiful double-eagles during the early nineteen-twenties. Resplendent in glorious bronze-golden hue, the luster seen here is more than worthy of a "gem" or better example, beaming with long, swooping lines of luster without end. Small contact marks are a bit more limited than expected, which helps to makes this a particularly appealing example.
