Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1850-O PCGS AU-53
Lot Number: 258
Description: S.H. Consignment. 32 graded AU-53, 17 higher at PCGS. High mintmark, which appears to be scarcer than the centered mintmark examples. New Orleans issued the first and only branch-mint twenties until San Francisco began rolling its presses in 1854, and that fact alone attracts type collectors. The surface exhibits little actual wear, and despite some nicely saturated royal-gold patina, field friction glitters beneath a strong lamp. One single pinpoint abrasions pierces the field in front of Liberty's neck, but all other contact is minor and noticeable only in aggregate.
