Lot Title: 1909-S Indian PCGS MS-64RD CACCAC
Lot Number: 552
Description: 232 graded MS-64 RD, 198 higher at PCGS. Your favorite cataloger might suggest the population events are greatly inflated for the 1909-S Indian cent, as it doesn't seem conceivable that so many MS-64 and better examples exist with full mint red. This specimen, obviously fully red from even the very first glance, blazes with lustrous coppery presence, and boasts four complete diamonds due to an outstanding strike. A faint partial fingerprint on either side is responsible for peppered carbon specks that, in turn, probably limit the grade. Yet at arm's-length, the cent's presence could hardly be nicer. Due to 19th century laws designed to protect silver interests, 1909 was only the second year that San Francisco was able to strike cents, creating an opportunity for three distinct S-mint varieties for the date.
