Description: Whisenhunt Collection. Sheldon-231. In this superb early die-state, there is not a trace of a die-crack on the obverse, but "Y" has a defective left foot. The fraction bar on the "no stems" reverse is not doubled and rests a little closer to the "1" than "100". Nut-brown overall, the surface retains some old verdigris and residue, showing that it has not been excessively picked at. A light, old pin-scratch in the obverse right field joins a smattering of typical circulation marks throughout.
