Lot Title: 1875-S/CC Trade PCGS MS-62
Lot Number: 350
Description: J. S. P. Collection. FS-501, S/CC mintmark. Hands-down, the 1875-S/CC has to be the most desirable variety within the Trade dollar series, and for sure, it represents the niftiest over-mintmark. Although not very scarce except as a condition rarity, the variety remains very popular even though, technically, the die blunder is not extremely obvious, showing as a ghostly remnant of a second "C" next to the "S". Undoubtedly, there is some additional demand from Carson City specialists who don't otherwise care about varieties! Here is a vibrant example with booming luster and razor-sharp details that both seem to readily surpass expectations of an MS-62 grade. Clearly, the grade is based on the presence of a number of angular hairlines that dart into the fields. Splashes of lead-grey toning scatter about.
