Any 1890s double-eagle will be difficult to locate so far above the common "select" level, but 1892-S is considerably scarcer than most, as the population report implies. Thoroughly lustrous and intensely immersed in rich butternut-gold sheen, visual impact could scarcely be more memorable without fetching a much higher price tag. One might wonder whether an upgrade could ever be possible for such a contact-free example. Razor sharp and destined for a premier collection.
