With either of the sunken-relief gold series, premier among qualifications for gem status is the condition of the surface, which nearly always shows abrasions in any grade below MS-65. All that is seen here is a light tick on the Indian's cheek, and a small reed mark near the top of the reverse. Crisp, pinpoint details serve merely to affirm exemplary quality expected for a type that is elusive in all dates at MS-65 grade.
