Description: Forest Park Collection II. 9 graded MS-66 FH, 1 higher at NGC. Dies fell upon the planchet with heavy pressure before this quarter slid into the hopper, thus creating a highly elusive specimen with resounding sharpness. Not only does Liberty's head show every vestige of detail, but quite amazing for 1929-D, each of the individual rivets has been rendered upon the shield, with the lower left pair only very slightly softened by the age of the obverse die. Even the star next to the mintmark - frequently overlooked as a sharpness pickup point - displays just trivial blurring. Fragile champagne tone layers across the entire surface, accentuating the excellent luster, and providing impetus for the "very gem" grade level. NGC has seen only a single finer example (and PCGS shows three at MS-66+ FH).
