Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1796 PCGS Fair-2 (shield)
Lot Number: 712
Description: Browning-2, R.3 has the "high 6" in the date, identifying it as the far more prevalent obverse. Strictly honest wear, if a bit uneven, should strike the fancy for the next owner of this in-demand and all-time classic type coin. LIBERTY has succumbed to the ravages of many hands, but the date remains absolutely bold, as does the outline of Liberty's portrait. The reverse displays precious little detail, showing a partial outline of the eagle and ICA at lower right. Trivial pinscratches down the portrait will bother nobody since, after all, this coin retains but two points of grade. A humble and worthy alternative to the financial demands of even modestly better-preserved examples.
