Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1869 PCGS PR-66RB
Lot Number: 640
Description: 29 graded PR-66 RB, 4 higher at PCGS. While not rare even at the "Gem" level, the 1869 2-cent proves to be elusive any finer, although it isn't readily apparent what advantage a higher grade (for a lot more money) would bring over this excellent "very Gem" specimen. Ideal russet-copper tone entwines with deeper reddish hues in order to deliver complex nuances that belie the generally low-contrast presentation; this is certainly no cameo contender. The cataloger cannot locate any contact marks of note, but it is worth mentioning a tiny rough patch on the surface at 7:00 of the reverse (scotia).
