Description: Bradford Pear Collection. 66 graded MS-66, 59 higher at PCGS. That a huge mintage of almost 22-million has yielded so (relatively) few "very gem" examples is a testament to two factors: attrition, and indifferent production quality. Philly 1889 dollars are surprisingly often represented by mediocre strikes, and even this cloud-white example features modest deficiency in sharpness over the ear. Remarkably untoned with lovely, multi-spoked luster, a careful examination reveals merely one sliding contact mark in the obverse lower left field.
