Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1880-CC PCGS MS-66
Lot Number: 310
Description: VAM-8 has a strong polishing line through "M" of AMERICA, this being the best pickup-point, but the more interesting feature for most collectors is the "8/7" in the date, attributed by noting the brief dash beneath the second "8". It is also a "small mintmark" reverse. No color gains any traction on the reverse, which remains steadfast frosty white and virtually immune to all signs of contact. The obverse as well seems to display no marks at all, not even on the cheek, but the most obvious characteristic of this side is the widely squared-off toning pattern that unquestionably resulted from storage within a paper tube. Intriguing coral-gold competes for space against a brief flash of purple and indigo-green.
