Description: So-called 1849/7. PCGS for some reason states "minor variety", but the cataloger disagrees. This is not the Breen-6582, but rather another repunched variety what was at one time thought to be 1849/7, although it is, in fact, 1849/1849, with all four digits in the date nicely repunched left. The proviso for "cleaning" takes into account patchy hairlines within most of the fields, not obtrusively abraded but distinctly visible under certain viewing angles. Strongly detailed, perhaps at the sharpness level of AU-55.
