Description: M. Diatom Collection. McCloskey 1-A, R.4 has a so-called "large date" obverse paired to a "small 5" reverse, as described by Breen-6511. Really, the large date is best recognized by noticing that "7" rests a bit right of the curl above. Although graded only XF-45 and somewhat abraded, the surfaces are surprisingly luminescent and display a significant portion of the original luster percolating between the obverse stars, and most definitely revolving around the reverse periphery. The inner shield shows some butterscotch toning.
