Lot Title: 1809 Plain Edge O-115A, R.3 XF
Lot Number: 888
Description: The Before Collection. Normal edge. Overton-115a in this die state has a spindly die crack trailing right from the first star, another descending in to the zero of the date, and yet another arcing left from the forecurl, readily attributing both the die-state and die-marriage. It almost always appears modestly struck (and indeed, high-grade examples are surprisingly elusive for a non-rare variety), and in this case, as always, the junction of the eagle's body and left (observed) wing has some weakness due to strike. Nevertheless, a fair twinge of luster within the stars suggests the XF-40 grade level at minimum, and the pale orange and lilac hues merely add to a sense of vintage quality.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
