Description: Hal Shawb Collection. Almost absurdly attractive, the astounding two-tone color presentation is the pinnacle of quality for a silver dollar in the "very fine" grade range. As the foundation of this wonderful eye-appeal, charcoal grey embraces the deeper recesses, especially up against the rim, creating an ideal framework for the evolving color scheme. Meanwhile, the majority of the surface, lying in higher relief than the surrounding fields, shows the caresses of many hands over decades of time, as dove-grey layers over these areas and contrasts ideally with the deeper shades. A mere handful or so of old bagmarks have been worn nearly away and thus the overall impression is of a remarkably smooth, creamy delight that carries the additional benefit of being the king of all Morgan dollars. This is the kind of coin ideally suited for the Scotsman Cataloger's Choice Award, which doesn't always go to the highest graded or most expensive offering within a series, but is certainly meant to attract attention to coins that inspire thoughts beyond mere numbers and price guides. You'll understand what we mean when you view this beauty.
