Description: 245 graded MS-65, 16 higher at NGC. VAM-2A "5/high 5" deserves to get consideration as a top VAM because of the excellent coolness factor, combining remnants of a very high "5" in the date (the tops of the prior digit's flag can readily be seen) and an obvious die defect in the wreath just below "NI" on the reverse. Furthermore, the population report reveals statistics that affirm the date's historic reputation as a major grade-rarity within the series, with NGC showing very few above the "Gem" level. Fascinating violet-tan patina drapes the obverse of this blazing example, mated to a near-full-white reverse.
