Description: Presumably, the "star" designation applies for divergent reasons between this pair of well-known common dates. 1880-S features splendid, fully prooflike character on the obverse, this being the likely reason for special attention, although the reverse does sport appealing, dusky denim and bronze-grey patina. A terrific and exceptionally vibrant blaze of oil-slick toning forms a crescent over the obverse upper field for 1881-S, creating undeniably beautiful eye-appeal. The usual superb strikes apply for this two coin lot.
