Description: M. Diatom Collection. Often seen nearly prooflike due to limited production, this particular 1888 displays far more typical, frosty luster, suggesting a later strike off the dies. Boldly struck as always, especially for examples from the last couple of years of emission, only delicate wear will be found at the top of the strands of hair, the same locale that is last to be defined by the dies. The wear is so light and so smooth that the CAC gold sticker implies potential upgrade, and this may indeed be true "slider" type example. Handsomely toned in corn-gold with slightly paler accents hidden within the recesses.
