Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1907 PCGS PR-64
Lot Number: 160
Description: 23 graded PR-64, 22 higher at PCGS. Smoky, golden hue drapes the entire surface and has a surprisingly uniform gleam from edge to edge, unusual for a gold coin that has taken on this much patina. It is highly typical for proof gold stored in century-old circumstances to develop uneven patina. PCGS correctly avoided any sort of "cameo" annotation, given the rather low-contrast presentation, yet the fields retain distinct reflectivity and the devices most definitely feature very fine, frosted surface consistency. Viewed "through the slab", any grade-limiting factor cannot be readily noticed, although an extremely oblique viewing angle does reveal exceedingly faint wiping hairlines in the fields.
