Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1848 PCGS XF-40
Lot Number:
Description: 18 in XF40 and 169 higher at PCGS. With just 15,000 business strikes the 1848 seated dollar has the lowest mintage of any of the dates in the 1840s; moreover, with only 10% of the original mintage expected to have survived, the present coin is a wonderful example in PCGS XF-40. The surfaces are a lovely silver-grey with hints of mint luster accompanying a great strike. A small rim bump near 9 o'clock on the obverse is all that holds this coin back from higher grades (LS).
