Description: Copper Clappers Caper Collection. 1 graded PR-67+, 3 higher at PCGS. Simply stated, this is an astounding, earth-shaking superb gem - absolutely the finest the cataloger has ever seen for 1880. It is impossible to conceive of a greater quantity of toned beauty being compressed into a dime-sized window that peers directly into the edge of numismatic heaven. Huge, broad swaths of deep-ocean blue, sea-green, supernova-red and apricot brilliance encircle most of the obverse in a horseshoe pattern. The reverse features the same colors, but incorporates additional lime accents nearer the periphery. Striking perfection is assured by the tiniest of details that have been brought up to maximum extent, including nail on Liberty's toe, and the overlapping area of the intersecting leaves at the top of the wreath. In this catalog, there is no higher an opinion by the cataloger than can be expressed by the Scotsman Cataloger's Choice Award, with this the finest possible such representative.
