Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1804 S-266 PCGS G-4
Lot Number: 630
Description: Sheldon-266 is shown on the slab insert, but more specifically, this is S-266b (die state III), showing the rim cud over RTY, but no rim break on the reverse. 1804 has long enjoyed an esteemed reputation next to that of 1799, obviously due to key status, but also because of the prevalence of "problem" examples always seen on the market. While the surface of this example, graded VG-8, appears certainly nicer than average for 1804, modest roughness can nevertheless be noted, and some ancient darker deposits continue to adhere to portions of the reverse. In a sense, this is "all good", because indications are that this is a far more original example than the usual "processed" coin. Leather-brown and boldly outlined, as expected of the commercial grade.
