Lot Title: Five toned 1899-O certified by PCGS
Lot Number: 546
Description: Collector Appeal: "mossy". No better a phrase than "mossy tone" might describe the presence of peculiar, yet strangely attractive earth-green, olive-slate and ashy bronze-indigo splashes that thoroughly color the surface of this New Orleans quintet. Two pieces grade MS-65+, and by Jove, they are remarkably attractive gems. Another pair grade MS-65 despite both of the cheeks being substantially abraded. Frankly, the cataloger feels PCGS blew it on those two, so tread gently. Finally, an MS-64+ example actually has a much cleaner cheek than the preceding pair, and this is just such an attractive near-gem dollar. CAC approved of this last, and one of the MS-65+ pieces within this five coin lot.
