Description: Shawl Consignment. 5 graded MS-63, 22 higher at NGC. In any uncirculated grade, 1907-S commands well-deserved status as a key to the series, and ranks among the scarcest 20th century Barber half-dollars. A quick look at the NGC population immediately affirms that opinion. One reason the date is so difficult to locate "nice" is the plethora of poorly struck examples, and even this significantly nicer piece demonstrates areas of softness on the reverse. Nevertheless, both sides shimmer with pronounced, faceted luster and plenty of toast-gold patina that serves to enhance the eye-appeal.
