Lot Title: 1898-O PCGS MS-63 (green label)
Lot Number: 891
Description: Shawl Consignment. 10 graded MS-63, 37 higher at PCGS. The difficulty of locating high grade examples of 1898-O stems partly from the low mintage of under 900-thousand, and also from the fact that they tend to come poorly impressed, meaning the slightest amount of wear would make uncirculated examples instantly drop into extremely-fine territory. The lack of sharpness is evidence here, as the curls above Liberty's forehead and the juncture of the eagle's right (observed) wing all lack definition. Grey-blond patina drapes the entire coin, and is further augmented by a broad splash of mulberry upon the reverse.
