Lot Title: 1901-S PCGS XF details/repaired
Lot Number: 775
Description: Shop Talk Collection. The included ANACS photo-certificate states "cleaned" without a details level assessment, while PCGS offers an XF/repaired opinion for this same coin. Both are correct, as one can most easily assess sharpness by the reverse, where the eagle retains 90% of his feather details, albeit while showing some rub on the shield. Due to smoothing of Liberty's cheek, the obverse sharpness must be determined by stars, all but one of which retain full central delineation. Caveats and all, 1901-S is an exceptionally difficult acquisition in any form of grade above Good or so, and prospective bidders need to be ready to pony up for an example of this caliber.
