Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1862-S PCGS MS-63
Lot Number: 752
Description: Mintage: 67,000. 11 graded MS-63, 2 higher at PCGS. The extremely limited number of mint-state examples of 1862-S is mostly explained by the low mintage, and perhaps a handful are likely to show up in an auction in any given decade -- yes, ten years -- of numismatic auctions. Bone-grey mint frost surrounds faintly glossy motifs for this desirable example, and an occasional hint of darker grey diagonally streaks briefly into the fields. A small cluster of abrasions are confined to the obverse right field, while the reverse displays virtually no signs of contact. Handsomely defined except for a couple of obverse stars.
