Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1893-S PCGS F-12
Lot Number: 466
Description: Riser Handle Collection. The appearance is slightly more dramatic than expected of the Fine grade, since the entire surface faces up as an aluminum-white canvas upon which has been splashed some memorable metallic olive-bronze inflections, and additional golden copper for good measure. Placing a loupe on the coin reveals unexpectedly smooth, honestly circulated character, although a little curled grader's hair will also be found, sticking to the cheek. How much hair do graders at PCGS lose every day? Fortunately, such trivialities pale by comparison to the big, bold detail still remaining, with the large curl bands well outlined, albeit deprived of their finer interior sharpness. No breast feathers remain for the poor, naked eagle, but his wings do retain at least two-thirds of their articulation.
