Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1883-S PCGS MS-62+
Lot Number: 416
Description: VAM-11 gets immediate attribution once the two minuscule tines are found, at the bottom of the Phrygian cap. After a four year run of exceedingly high-quality production of silver dollars in large numbers, 1883-S represents the first of the uncommon San Francisco dates, yet the exquisite "look" of the prior dates was retained. Presentation borders on prooflike, with long, looping curls of flowline luster shimmering through the fields against a modest cameo foreground. As PCGS suggests, the grade rests right on the cusp of the choice level, augmented by pinpoint definition, but barely - just barely - a few too many tiny marks stray across each side, denying upgrade.
