Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1907 Indian No Motto NGC MS-64 CACCAC
Lot Number: 263
Description: Whereas Saint-Gaudens' double-eagle was truly intended for bank reserves, and not so much to circulate, his truly beautiful design for the $10 gold piece was intended to be seen by mainstream America, since the coin was meant to enter commerce. The face value represented considerable purchasing power in 1907, as it was roughly equivalent one day's wages at a well-paying job. To that end, imagine your employer handing over a single Indian eagle as nice as the present near-gem, day after day, Monday through Friday! The opportunity to appreciate the flawless surface, marvelous vintage golden hue and shimmering luster would have been reason enough to work hard at any occupation. Several minor ticks at the bottom of the jaw are the primary deterrent to upgrade.
