Description: 3 graded VG-10, 21 higher at NGC. FS-501 is the famed "micro O" reverse for 1892-O, and as of this writing, NGC has certified a minuscule population of fewer than sixty pieces in ALL grades! And one can guess that many of those in "higher" grades must represent hopeful resubmissions. Astonishingly, the "micro O" was quickly recognized the year following its production, and the length of time for which collectors have been seeking examples helps explain the popularity of the issue, in spite of its excessive rarity. Although a portion of every letter in LIBERTY appears here, slightly less than the upper half of each of BER shows, leading to the conservative VG-10 grade (sadly, this is usually adequate to garner a full Fine grade in today's market).
