Lot Title: 1793 Chain Periods S-4 SEGS G-6, as described
Lot Number: 422
Description: Parallel Alpha Collection. Sheldon-4 has a period after LIBEERTY, which is sufficient for attribution. The "with periods" Redbook variety merits a moderately scarce (R,3) rating, and locating an acceptable specimen is difficult, especially with good eye-appeal. Curiously slightly luminescent, the overall caramel brown appears generally pleasing, and its depth helps cloak several smaller pits lurking on the obverse (the reverse faces up in the slab). The date cannot be seen for this SEGS-encapsulated example, but with strong, oblique lighting, "3" is there and can barely be discerned. The chain side retains nice, bold outlines of the motifs, including somewhat legible USofA. A thin scratch well out from the forehead has mostly blended into the field color, and overall quality should not be out of reach of an AG-3 net grade.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
