Description: Mintage: 153,000. Struck in larger quantity than many contemporary quarter-eagles, the 1854-O nevertheless qualifies as a better date within an under-collected series. Carefully protected portions of the surface right next to some design elements suggest flashy original character, and this was probably a semi-prooflike coin when struck. Slightly worn now, the obverse seems to have practically escaped contact, while the reverse contains a few more ticks by comparison.
