Description:	Open 3 is the more common logotype for 1873. NGC calls attention to the obvious prooflike quality that entails granularity, as struck, within the bright field texture, and even a touch of cameo frost. Still, the technical qualifications are "UNCish" enough to show that this is not a true proof striking (all of which were "closed 3" logotypes anyhow). Tiny handling marks disturb the frost on the cheek and figure into the grade, as do a few fleeting hairlines.
